Who we are

Friends & filmmakers, Jon & Ryan were two teachers who made films on the weekend. Before long, they dared ask each other, “what if we both just… did this, full-time?”

10 Years later…

In 2024, Jon and Ryan are Unified Films, collaborating with talented individuals across the globe to create moving, uniquely crafted films for each and every client. Our passion lies in the art of storytelling, and we’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, including wedding couples, bands, inventors, entrepreneurs, charities, and more.

We help brands, organisations, and businesses harness the power of film and storytelling to fund their projects, promote their services, and convert audiences into loyal customers. Each project is a fresh opportunity for us to connect with our clients and bring their visions to life through creative, captivating storytelling.

Take a look at some of those films.

Ryan

He’s the gentle and wise wizard of Unified, and is likely to be found trekking through the wilderness with Doug the dog in tow, or these days, looking after his boy, Reuben. The road to Unified for Ryan was paved with playing and recording music, teaching at a recording studio and learning the ropes of our craft working on Emmerdale as a boom operator. He's a huge fan of 'The Lord of The Rings' and Italian food.

He and Jon often joke they are married twice, once to their wives and once to each other, because their life choices have meant they are rarely apart; they play in a pop-punk function band together, run Unified, and their wives are best friends — yikes!

Jon

Jon comes from a background of lecturing on film & media, and loves to talk and share ideas. More so, though, he loves to tell stories and use his camera to make people feel things. The film Saving Private Ryan convinced Jon that film was the best way to do that, and so a lifelong passion began. As well as a love for singing, songwriting, and acting, Jon is also an avid gamer, and is excited for the day he can pass the second controller to his son, Jude.

On Ryan & their ‘marriage’, Jon said, “I’ve subtly manipulated him into every aspect of my life. Not for some guey, can’t-be-without-him kind of reason, but more because, it’s sort of like how a guitarist has a guitar tech. I’m joking — he’s one talented boi.”
